Springer Nature announces completion of divestment of InfoChem GmbH to DeepMatter Group Plc.

InfoChem has built up a set of high-quality chemical data-management and synthesis prediction software and tools.

London, 15 March 2019

Springer Nature today announces the completion of the sale of InfoChem GmbH to DeepMatter Group Plc.  InfoChem has built up a set of high-quality chemical data-management and synthesis prediction software and tools, serving global pharmaceuticals and chemicals giants such as AstraZeneca and BASF. Following the transaction, Springer Nature holds a minority stake in DeepMatter and Bettina Goerner, who leads the database research group at Springer Nature, will join DeepMatter’s board as a non-executive director.

Bettina Goerner, Managing Director of the Database Research Group at Springer Nature said: “We are proud of the quality database and tools InfoChem has built. We look forward to maintaining a close relationship with the InfoChem team and I’d like to thank them for all their contributions to-date. InfoChem’s cheminformatics software will be integrated into DeepMatter’s cloud platform, accelerating the platform’s development.”

Stuart Cantrill, Chief Editor, Nature Chemistry added: “I have been impressed by the progress DeepMatter have made in digitizing chemistry and making research data increasingly recordable, reproducible and shareable.”

Mark Warne, CEO of DeepMatter said: “We are delighted to have today finalised our acquisition of InfoChem. We are confident that this will allow us to accelerate towards our end-goal: integrating chemistry with digital technology, enabling a greater use of machine learning and artificial intelligence.

“The integration of InfoChem’s cheminformatic capabilities into our DigitalGlassware™ platform will enable increased technological development, whilst the addition of the team will further enhance DeepMatter’s expertise and offering. We are excited to welcome the InfoChem team to the enlarged group and look to the future with confidence.”

Deepmatter Group Plc is quoted on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM), and has developed DigitalGlasswareTM, an artificial intelligence-enabled cloud-based software and hardware platform allowing chemistry experiments to be accurately and systematically recorded, coded and entered into a shared data cloud. This enables chemists to work together effectively, sharing the details of their experiments from anywhere and in real time, to help avoid work being needlessly duplicated, and ultimately so new discoveries may be made faster.
