Mpox outbreak

In response to the global Mpox outbreak, Springer Nature is making Mpox-related content free to access

4th August 2022

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has now declared the outbreak of Mpox a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). In response, Springer Nature is making content related to monkeypox free to access (to be assessed on a rolling basis) to support the community in access to and development of knowledge around the virus.

Springer Nature is also creating free resource hubs that will collate all resources relevant to Mpox research. The hubs for the Nature and BMC journals are now live and can be found here and here. A holistic Springer Nature hub is available here, collating research articles from across all our journals that have been identified as the most recent and relevant to the outbreak, as well as additional commentary on this topic and relevant books. If you are not able to get access to an article that you believe to be important in both understanding and addressing this emergency, please contact our customer services team.

Springer Nature encourages early sharing of research submitted to all our journals through preprints, and our In Review preprint service is available for many journals. We strongly urge authors submitting articles related to this outbreak to Springer Nature journals to share underlying interim and final research datasets as rapidly and widely as possible, including with public health and research communities and the WHO.
