Nature Books announces first titles at Frankfurt Book Fair, marking a key milestone for Springer Nature's newest imprint
Springer Nature announces the first three titles to be published under its new Nature Books imprint as part of a session at the Frankfurt Book Fair.
The first titles, The Magic Bullet in Modern Medicine, The Electric Vehicle Transition and Reimagining the Industrial City, showcase the breadth and ambition of the new imprint, addressing some of today's most important scientific, technological and societal challenges:
- The Magic Bullet in Modern Medicine, by Toine Pieters, Professor of the History of Pharmacy and Allied Sciences at Utrecht University, explores a century of medicine's search for the "perfect cure", from early bacteriology to gene therapy, and the lessons this history holds for healthcare today.
- The Electric Vehicle Transition, by André de Palma, Yannik Riou and Robin Lindsey, leading experts in transportation economics, mobility and the automotive industry, examines why the move to electric vehicles is not simply a technology shift but a fundamental transformation of transport systems, industry and public policy.
- Reimagining the Industrial City, by Carl Grodach, Foundation Professor of Urban Planning and Design at Monash University, challenges the idea of the post-industrial city by showing how industrial spaces continue to drive employment, innovation and more sustainable urban futures.
Launched earlier this year, Nature Books is aimed at academics, policymakers and funders and providing authors the opportunity to publish their long-form work under one of the world's most trusted and recognised scientific brands for the first time.
Tamsine O’Riordan, VP Science, Books said:
"Nature Books was created to bring together the editorial expertise of Nature Portfolio with Springer Nature's leadership in academic books, creating a new home for authoritative long form works. Seeing that vision realised with these first publications is an exciting moment. We look forward to working with more authors, building a distinctive new imprint that helps readers engage with authoritative works that help advance understanding, inform decision-making and drive meaningful impact with the ideas shaping our future.”
