Springer Nature launches Nature Books, bringing Nature Portfolio’s editorial excellence to book publishing

London | New York | Berlin, 16th July 2026

Springer Nature has launched Nature Books, a new imprint that gives authors the opportunity to publish long-form work under one of the world's most trusted and recognised scientific brands for the first time.

Nature Books authors will benefit from a distinctive publishing experience that combines the research area expertise of in-house Nature Portfolio editors with Springer Nature's leadership in academic books, helping authors develop, strengthen and amplify their work.

Harsh Jegadeesan , Chief Publishing Officer, Springer Nature commented:

“Books are an important part of the research ecosystem because they allow authors to explore complex questions with a depth and context that other formats cannot always provide. As the world’s largest academic book publisher, we’re committed to offering publishing options that support author choice and help maximise the reach and impact of their work.

“Nature Books is a clear example of that commitment. Bringing together two of Springer Nature's greatest strengths: our global leaderships in academic books and the subject expertise of Nature Portfolio  it gives authors a powerful new way to develop and share long-form work."

Aimed at academics, policymakers and funders, Nature Books will publish works that bring together expertise, evidence and insight on some of the most significant issues facing research and society today.

Nature Books forms part of Springer Nature's broader books portfolio, which supports researchers across disciplines, formats and career stages. Complementing the publisher's highly regarded Springer and Palgrave Macmillan brands, the new imprint enables authors to benefit from the guidance of a specialised editorial board of in-house Nature Portfolio editors, and to publish under a brand recognised globally for scientific excellence and research quality.

The launch builds on Springer Nature's position as the world's largest academic book publisher, publishing approximately 14,500 books each year. The first titles will launch later this year.

Notes to Editors

  • Authors’ publishing under the Nature Books brand will benefit from Nature portfolio editorial expertise with oversight at proposal level from an internal board (of in-house Nature Portfolio editors) to help shape the work.
  • Commissioning, peer review and production will be handled by Springer Nature books editorial teams.
