Any user can download these open access books for free from SpringerLink, as well as through third-party hosting platforms such as Amazon Kindle, Google Scholar, Apple Books, PubMed’s NCBI Bookshelf and funders’ own platforms.

Tim Britton, Managing Director of Open Research at Springer Nature, says: “Since the launch of our open access book publication programme in 2012, we are proud to have published over 500 OA books whose chapters have now been downloaded more than 30 million times, which is amazing. Publishing high-quality, insightful research and helping authors to share their work is at the heart of our mission to advance discovery.”

Springer Nature publishes both OA and hybrid books and series, and partners with, amongst others, International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement, IMISCOE (International Migration, Integration and Social Cohesion), Max Planck, and Simula Research Laboratory.
