Looking ahead to 2019: Nature to celebrate 150th anniversary

2019 will mark the 150th anniversary of the international science journal Nature.

London, 21 December 2018

Founded in 1869, Nature was launched with a mission to ‘place before the general public the grand results of Scientific Work and Scientific Discovery’ and to aid scientists by ‘giving early information of all advances made in any branch of Natural knowledge throughout the world’.

Today, the journal continues to provide its readers with original research along with news and commentary on science and society, in print and online at nature.com.  November 2019 will mark 150 years since the official launch of the weekly issue.

Activities are planned throughout 2019 to celebrate the history and legacy of research published in Nature, as well as looking ahead to the future of research.
