Rachel Jacobs, Group General Counsel, appointed member of Springer Nature Board

Springer Nature today announced the appointment of Rachel Jacobs, Group General Counsel, Springer Nature to the Springer Nature Board.
Rachel was appointed Group General Counsel for Springer Nature in May 2015, following the creation of the new company through the merger of Macmillan Science and Education with Springer Science+Business Media. In conjunction with her new role, Rachel will continue to retain her existing responsibilities overseeing the Legal, Company Secretary and Anti-piracy departments.
Rachel was formerly Global General Counsel of Macmillan Science and Education, managing the Legal, Compliance, Company Secretariat and Anti-Piracy departments, since joining the company in 2011.
Previously, she was an experienced corporate lawyer at city firm CMS Cameron McKenna, a member of CMS which is a Top 10 Global Law Firm providing clients with specialist, business- focused advice in law and tax matters. Rachel advised companies in both the media sector and other industries on M&A, private equity and capital market transactions. In 2007 she joined the FTSE listed media business, Informa plc, where she led the group legal team based in London advising its publishing, events and training businesses internationally. She has a first class BSc. Hons. degree in Environmental Science.

Springer Nature is led by CEO, Derk Haank, previously CEO of Springer Science+Business Media. Rachel joins Steven Inchcoombe (Chief Publishing Officer), also newly appointed, Martin Mos (Chief Operating Officer) and Ulrich Vest (Chief Financial Officer) on the Springer Nature Board.
