Nature Italy launches to give Italian scientists a voice among politicians and the public
New digital magazine will bring scientific research and issues of science policy in Italy to the wider research community and general public
Milan | London | New York, 19 October 2020
Nature Italy has been launched today by Nature Research, part of Springer Nature. The digital magazine, which will publish stories in Italian and English, will shine a light on Italian research and the Italian research community. A combination of research highlights, science news and feature stories will allow readers in Italy and abroad to keep up with the latest research and the scientific agenda in the country.*
Led by Chief Editor, Nicola Nosengo, Nature Italy will call attention to the application of science in different fields such as energy, environment, and healthcare, but also less conventional fields like education, welfare, decision-making and urban planning. Nature Italy will also take an evidence-based approach to counter anti-scientific positions. Content in Nature Italy is free to access at www.nature.com/natitaly thanks to the financial support of a consortium of partners: Farmindustria, Kedrion Biopharma and Roche. Nature Research has sole responsibility for all editorial content.
Magdalena Skipper, Editor-in-Chief of Nature, said: “Through the launch of Nature Italy, we hope to be able to provide scientists in Italy and abroad with a platform that highlights, and puts into context, the most important research from and relevant for this region. By publishing in Italian and English we remove the language barrier and make these findings accessible not just to scientists and researchers, but also a wider audience including policy-and decision-makers, educators, and the wider public. We hope that this new platform will be a valuable resource, and we welcome your feedback and suggestions for improvement.”
* Note: Nature Italy is not a peer-reviewed journal and will not consider primary research articles for publication.
